Amateur Radio Exam Sessions

The North Shore Radio Club conducts amateur radio exams on laptop computers that we provide. The ARRL receives the test results on the day of the exam, and the FCC receives the information one or two days after the exam.

We charge a $15.00 fee in cash to take the exam. We forward all monies received directly to the ARRL. You must also bring a Government Issued Photo ID.

Our 2023 schedule will have exams on the 3rd Sunday of every month with the exception of June which will be on June 11th 2023.

All amateur radio exams are conducted at the:

Northbrook Public Library
1201 Cedar Lane
Northbrook, IL 60062

All candidates must register online at https://hamstudy.org/sessions/kd9ito

Those seeking a new license will be directed to the FCC site to receive an FRN (Federal Registration Number). Those seeking an upgrade to their licence will register using their FRN.

We ask that candidates arrive when the Library opens at 1:00pm, so we can start promptly.

The FCC charges a $35 fee to all new licensees. Candidates will receive an email from the FCC with a link to pay the $35. You have 10 days to pay this fee.

Once we receive your registration, we will send an email with confirmation that you're registered with additional information and links for the FCC.

Please include your email and phone number on your registration. We will also contact you by phone to help you prepare for your exam, an extra service provided by our club.
