November, 2023 Blog

With a very successful club auction behind us, and the winter months closing in, we can put our efforts towards taking a critical look at our radio shacks with an eye toward improvements, enhancements, and just plain ergonomics. Function over form and access to those critical components will go a long way toward making our time in front of our equipment more enjoyable.

This is also an excellent month to take stock of what we have. Out with the old and in with the new. But have you been keeping track of new purchases and doing something critically important? What you ask? Make a list of your equipment, when it was purchased, a list of the serial numbers and model numbers and keep it in a place separate from your equipment (or make a duplicate copy) and give it to your significant other in case the unexpected happens-SK land. It will make for less hassles and more piece of mind. And should the equipment be damaged or stolen, you will have the critical records you need for replacement. A catalogue of photos of your equipment will also help should you need to claim a loss on your insurance.

November marks the display of our Radio Club’s equipment in a display case at the Northbrook Public Library. Many thanks to Udo Koch for putting the display together and helping us inform our neighbors of our great hobby.

Finally, this month we will be publishing the list of nominate club officers for the upcoming annual election of officers in December at our monthly meeting where they will be voted upon. Thanks to all of those members who stepped up this year to take our club into 2024 and to those who would still like to be of assistance to our Board.

Please enjoy your Turkey Day and I look forward to seeing everyone at our November and December meetings at Heller.
